Connecting Christians with relevant evangelist concepts and news.
Four Types of Soil
The parable of the Sower provides a template for evangelism. However, why are we not considering it? Furthermore, Christ’s teaching reveals four distinct soil conditions where good seed falls. Importantly, notice that the seed itself is always good—it’s the condition of the soil that determines the outcome.
When we examine typical evangelistic efforts, what percentage of non-Christians actually make decisions for salvation? Unfortunately, the numbers are often discouraging. Therefore, could Christ’s parable hold the key to improving these results? Rather than just scattering good seed, what if we focused on preparing the soil conditions first? Instead of hoping hearts are ready to receive the Gospel, imagine if we intentionally cultivated receptive ground before planting.
Consequently, this represents a fundamental shift in evangelistic strategy—from seed-focused to soil-focused ministry. By addressing the rocky ground of hardened hearts, clearing the thorns of life’s anxieties, and softening the pathways worn smooth by disappointment, we can dramatically increase the likelihood of spiritual harvest. Ultimately, this soil-preparation approach is precisely Good Soil Ministries’ mission: Transforming Evangelism Through Intentional Heart Cultivation.
Rocky Soil
Understanding Life’s Hardships
The seeds that fall on rocky soil represent the hardships we endure in life. Often, life can leave us feeling beaten down, facing difficulties that seem insurmountable at times. As a result, building resiliency becomes essential for navigating these challenges.
The Finnish Concept of Sisu
To address this need, let me introduce a Finnish concept that provides insight into this goal and its connection to the parable. Specifically, “Sisu” represents a deep-rooted resilience that transforms rocky, resistant ground into fertile soil where faith can take hold and flourish. But how do we attain Sisu? For further understanding, see YouTube video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UTIizGyf5kU for an explanation of Sisu.
Building Resilience Through EIT
Naturally, there are many different paths to this designation. However, one effective approach is included through Emotional Integrative Therapy (EIT: www.BrainGearsCentre.com). Specifically, EIT builds Sisu through experiencing the activities in the modules. As clients work through the modules, they inevitably build Sisu percept by percept. Remarkably, the strength that is developed during the course is so incremental that the overall process is much easier than clients initially anticipated.
Shifting Perspective and Overcoming Obstacles
Nevertheless, completing this course will require a mental shift from what society tells us about how small events can cause difficulties for the rest of your life. Indeed, perspective is a large part of how we navigate life. Therefore, ask yourself if you believe you will be able to conquer anxiety, depression, and trauma. As my mother used to say, if you could find one other person who has succeeded, then it would be possible for you. Personally, I succeeded and have led hundreds out of the Rocky Soil, Thorns and the Pathway.
Moving forward, subsequent issues will discuss the thorns, the path, and the good soil, bringing the full concept to light.
